Description
Musical score to Sikya (for Solo Voice, self-accompanied with Shakers or Rattles), by avant-garde composer Dawn K. Williams. The work is a setting of an anonymous poem depicting butterflies in flight. It may be sung by any voice type. The singer performs unaccompanied, and him- or herself plays two shakers or rattles throughout the piece. A rhythmic pulse drives a combination of sung, spoken, whispered, and shouted sounds, alternating lines of the poem with Native American vocables. A program note, translation of the text, and full instructions to the performer are included. This newer edition has the same content as the previous edition, now printed on white paper. Difficulty: Moderate (college/community level). Duration: 10 minutes. - COMPOSER AUTHORIZED SCORE -
