"Revelation," by Timothy G. Riley, author of "Victims" takes the reader on a journey through the Bible which will increase understanding and appreciation of God's Holy Word. Mr. Riley doesn't claim to be a scholar or theologian, but with earnest and honest respect, approaches the Bible as a God-breathed document not to be interpreted by man but to be interpreted by its own words. He demonstrates that a word can be understood in the sentence it is used, in the context of the section in which it appears, and by comparing other places in the Bible where the word has been used. In this manner the author enlightens us, word by word. The end result is that gain of greater understanding of the Bible, with an emphasis on practical application. "Revelation" contains many historical facts and biblical knowledge that will reward the careful reader. Some of these jewels include the fact that Barabbas had committed a political murder, and that physical descriptions of Jesus are noticeably absent despite extensive personal descriptions of others throughout the Bible. Why? The reader will learn that the word qesheth is introduced as His sign of the covenant between Jehovah and Israel after the flood and means rainbow. What did Ezekiel's wheel look like, and why are there so many contradicting descriptions of it by scholars? These and many other questions are answered in this well researched book. Tim Riley has sought God's wisdom throughout the last 35 years as a student of the Bible. He's also an artist, so when he discusses biblical imagery, he comes at it from an artist's point of view as well as from a biblical perspective. "Revelation" is not a "quick read," but is meant to be read slowly. Checking words in concordances along the way will help the reader confirm the truths presented.
