The word 'Enchiridion' means manual or handbook in Latin. Epictetus was a Greek Philosopher who lived from about 55 A.D. to about 135 A.D. As a philosopher in ancient Rome, Epictetus strove to live a tranquil life of self-discipline and self-control. A lot of his life principles are contained in this 'handbook'. These simple yet insightful instructions have had a significant impact on untold generations of thinkers and sages throughout history.
